I would like to welcome Jaine back to our Nelson branch after an absence of a couple of years. Jaine is back from overseas and looking forward to training again. Jaine holds the rank of Green sash.
At Blenheim we welcome Doctor Tze Ying Chan to our ranks. She is with us for 2010. Formerly she was at CMA branch in Dunedin. Dr. Chan holds the rank of Brown sash.
I would like to remind those of you who are looking forward to gradings, this year, that there are specific requirements which must be met. Grading is not like NCEA where signing up qualifies you to pass. There are specific physical and mental requirements which must be met.
- You cannot grade if you do not meet the syllabus requirements.
- Meeting the syllabus requirements but not attending enough classes also disqualifies you.
- Failing to make grading requirements due to not achieving the required amount of classes by 2 lessons, and then only showing up for 2 lessons running up to the following grading. This disqualifies you by not attending regular classes or having the required mental attitude.
- Any other attitude problems will also hinder your grading invitation prospects.
- Grading is not a right. It is a privilege.
- Remember that there is no achievement, for anyone, if the bar is lowered so that any person doing whatever they like can pass.
If you want to achieve at Shao Chi Chuan, you must do it the Shao Chi Chuan way.
If you employed me to teach you how to become a world class Chess player, displaying your world class checkers skills will not help your cause one iota.
Finally, all of us are 'work in progress'.
